13.1 or BUST!!!

In preparation for the Hood to Coast relay coming up in 12 days....I decided to run the Provo River Half Marathon yesterday and what an experience it was. Here are just some highlights of the day:

  • Waking up at 3:45 am to feed Mia and out the door by 4:15 to catch the bus in Provo by 4:45
  • Arriving at South Fork Canyon at 5:30 am and waiting for the race to start at 6:30 in the freezing cold (I wasn't expecting it to be so chili)
  • Uhhh.....witnessing runners choosing not to stop off and use the outhouses along the way and doing the alternative.....not stopping at all (if you've ever run a marathon, you know what I'm talking about and it's not a pretty sight)
  • Seeing Bryan and Mia at the finish line cheering me on
  • Nursing the MANY blisters on my poor feet

All in all, it was a good experience. It feels good to finally get back into the running groove. Hood to Coast.....here I come!

marcae,
you are awesome. If only Lassa could see you now! Now I have never ran a marathon, but if your talking about what I think you are talking about- that's nasty. I hope I get to see that little chick of yours in person sometime. She is so dang cute.

You don't know me, but I clicked on your blog from Nicole Cavalieri's to see if I knew you and read this post. I just had to say I admire a girl that can run a half marathon, let alone a marathon. You go girl!! Also, your baby does not look very old, how on earth were you able to train so quickly?? AMAZING!!

Congratulations on your finish. I am impressed!! Plus those outhouses are very important. Makes the race unpleasant when others pass them by.

Way to go! I couldn't even run from here to your house, so I'm always impressed with runners! And that is so yucky about the non outhouse users. I'm sure it makes better time, but there has to be a line, and that would be it for me. At least put on some depends or something.

Wow, I am impressed! That is amazing to run a half marathon or a marathon! That is pretty gross that they do not stop. I can imagine not pretty or fun-smelling either. Lets be honest- that is disgusting! But great job on the race! Glad that we observe better hygiene then others!

You're amazing. I seriously thought about running it with you, and sorry I never returned your email, but I had my class reunion that day and registration for it was closed when I got on for it. You look great. I had a few friends in our ward do it and they said it was pretty poorly staffed but other than that it was great. You look amazing. Good luck on the hood the coast. We need to hang out soon. What are you guys doing on Friday?

I was just catching up with the IHH updated emails and saw that you joined and just found your NEW ROSENVAL blog and met your new addition Mia. How adorable she is!!

Ok... now that the introduction is done.. I just wanted to say I am amazed that you ran a marathon after just having a baby not so long ago. You have inspired me :).

You are amazing! How can you look that good after running a 1/2 marathon!!! No fair. To make the experience perfect you were able to see some "investments" made along the way. I heard or started the rumor that runners truly do make good investments.

Marcae, I can't believe you. I have been wanting to run in a marathon, but I really don't think I can. The thought of even doing a 5K makes me sick. But it might happen some day. Your family is so cute and after reading your blog, you truly are an amazing mom.

You inspire me... I'm amazed that you are already back into running... I would've used such a little baby for an excuse... but you look awesome, and I want to know how you trained so quickly... 13 miles is rough if you ask me.

The Ryan Family said...

You are some-kind-a-trooper! Jen has run several "half's" and I know what a commitment it is to train etc... Congrats!

Way to go! There's nothing like the feeling of crossing that finish line and being done! Tom is training for the St. George marathon and I hope he chooses to use the outhouses. :)
