It's What Being a Mom is All About!!!

Who says a 3-week-old can't smile????

I had the most fabulous Mother's Day! I love being a mom and I feel so blessed to have two beautiful daughters, both whom I love very much. I also feel so lucky to have an amazing husband. This year I told Bryan I didn't want him to buy me anything for Mother's Day because I feel like I already have the best gifts any mom could ever have. Being the sweet man he is, he went out and bought the same dress for Mia that Kate was buried in. We had talked about getting the dress for Mia as a remembrance, but we just put it on the back burner. But, Bryan never skips a beat. It was such a sweet surprise. I also woke up to breakfast in bed. Bryan had gotten up early and made homemade (yes, I said homemade) Belgium waffles and eggs....probably the BEST waffles I have ever had.

We spent the afternoon yesterday with Bryan's parents and then drove to Fillmore and spent the evening with my family. My brother Jordan, who is on a mission in Texas, called and we got to visit with him for a bit. The highlight of my day, though, was spending some time at the cemetery. I always feel such a peace when we go visit Kate's grave site.
We still haven't chosen a headstone yet, but we're hoping to have it picked out and here before Kate's birthday.

Oh Marcae I love that picture of you two girls at Kate's grave. I just cried because there are so many emotions wrapped up in that picture. Pain and deep love for sweet Kate. Joy for the time you get to share with sweet Mia and a deep routed peace that you'll all be together again. I honestly love the woman and Mother that you are. Brian is so sweet to remember to get Mia that dress. It was way to beautiful to never see again. Hope you get one in every size they have, and good for him for making breakfast in bed. What an ideal day. You make the rest of us mom's look fair in comparison, but love that we have you to inspire us to be better. You are beautiful and I so glad that I get to be a part of such an amazing woman.

I absolutely believe that a 3 week old can smile! Thank you for posting these beautiful pictures, I adore them. I think it is so special to have Kate in Fillmore, and that you can go there and experience such peace. You are an amazing Mother. Thank you for your constant and wonderful example. I am so honored to learn from you and have you as a friend.
It must be said, Mia looks gorgeous in that dress, where did she get it??? Whoever gave it to her must have great taste!

I am Kenz's sister in law and have enjoyed checking out your blog. Kate was so precious! I have to ask though, Is your nurse Amber Alter??? If so, I totally went to grammer and middle school with her before she moved. She was one of my childhood friends! Will you please ask her if she remembers Natalie Tillmann. I would love to contact her! Thanks Natalie Johnson!

What a great smile! My mom was hilarous. When people would say a baby was smiling because of gas she would say, "Do you smile when you have gas?"
